Abstract:In the current context of the vigorous implementation of the "dual carbon" strategy and the flourishing development of the digital economy, studying whether strategic emerging enterprises can fulfill their carbon responsibilities and promote ambidextrous innovation is related to China's ecological civilization construction and high-quality economic development. Using the pressure creativity model, explore the impact of carbon responsibility of strategic emerging enterprises on ambidextrous innovation, and examine the moderating effect of digital transformation. Selecting Chinese strategic emerging industry listed companies from 2020 to 2022 as research samples for empirical testing. Research has found that: (1) The carbon responsibility of strategic emerging enterprises has a significant U-shaped impact on incremental and breakthrough innovation. (2) The digitalization of facilities, business and technology have strengthened the relationship between carbon responsibility and incremental innovation and the relationship between carbon responsibility and breakthrough innovation in strategic emerging enterprises. (3) Heterogeneity analysis found that compared to state-owned enterprises, the U-shaped relationship between carbon responsibility of strategic emerging enterprises and incremental and breakthrough innovation is more significant in non-state-owned enterprises. The above conclusion still holds after robustness testing. This study provides empirical evidence for clarifying the relationship between carbon responsibility and ambidextrous innovation in strategic emerging enterprises, and also provides useful reference for enterprises to actively promote digital transformation, balance carbon responsibility fulfillment, and enhance ambidextrous innovation capabilities in the context of rapid development of the digital economy and "dual carbon".
