Abstract:The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, based on the new journey and new mission, systematically planned the goals, tasks, and major measures for the development of the Party and the country's cause in the coming period, providing important guidance for advancing the Chinese path to modernization. Among them, "achieving remarkable results in high-quality development" and "significantly improving the level of technological self-reliance and self-strengthening" have become the core goals for the development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, highlighting the key position of technological innovation in the overall situation and also pointing out the direction for academic research and practical exploration. The symposium closely followed the deployment of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and conducted in-depth exchanges around two key areas: First, the construction of a modern industrial system, focusing on consolidating and strengthening the real economy, optimizing and upgrading traditional industries, cultivating and expanding emerging and future industries, promoting high-quality and efficient service industries, and building a modern infrastructure system; second, accelerating high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement, with the direction of leading the development of new productive forces, coordinating the construction of a powerful country in education, science and technology, and talent, improving the overall efficiency of the national innovation system, and strengthening original innovation and key core technology research. These discussions not only echoed the strategic requirements of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, such as "deeply promoting the construction of Digital China" and "accelerating high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement, leading the development of new productive forces", but also reflected the consistent academic orientation of the "Technological Economics" journal, which focuses on economic changes and industrial development triggered by technological innovation. This issue of "Technical Economics" features excerpts and publications of expert views and reflections, aiming to contribute wisdom to promoting the development of technology, industry, and innovation from both theoretical construction and practical paths. We hope to stimulate more attention and discussion from colleagues in academia and industry.
